An English Silver-Mounted Hanger Late 17th Century, Indistinct Silver Marks, Maker's Mark GS With curved blade (old pitting) double-edged towards the point and struck with a profile king's head mark on both sides towards the forte, cast and chased hilt comprising slightly downbent side-guard with a Classical figure between foliage against a punched ground, the inner side with three plain bands between punched grounds, moulded border with a cherub's head between foliage on both sides, lobed rear quillon en suite, later knuckle-guard with central foliate oval, basal mount embossed and chased with a winged cherub's head on each side, and tapering agate grip of flattened swelling section beaked on each side at the top and with engraved silver cap 46.6 cm. blade This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: * * VAT on imported items at a preferential rate of 5% on Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on Buyer's Premium.
