A Composite Military Basket-Hilted Broadsword Of Col. Kirke's Grenadiers Late 18th Century With earlier double-edged blade (old pitting) cut with three narrow central fullers over nearly its entire length on each side and indistinctly incised 'ANDREA FARARA' between incised letters towards the forte, the ricasso with short double fullers on each side and struck with an indistinct mark on one side, iron guard of rounded bars framing ovoidal and rectangular panels, central ovoidal panel engraved 'Col Kirkeˢ GRANADEARS', a rectangular panel to one side engraved '30', fore-guards, bun-shaped pommel with separate button washer, and spirally-grooved wire-bound fishskin-covered grip 82.7 cm. blade Footnotes: There appears to be no record of Col.
