R.D. Russell, or 'Dick Russell' as he was better known, attended the Architectural Association School, under the tutelage of Danish designer Steen Eiler Rasmussen, before returning to work with his brother in Broadway and where he became head of the Gordon Russell Ltd Design Office. He was married to the designer Marion Pepler.
